Same problem here, using Ubuntu 20.04.
I just upgraded the system from 18.04, that lead to autoremove workbench because it's not on the new OS version repos, so I downloaded from this site the version 8.0.20 and tried to connect with no luck until now.
The version of the server is also 8.0.20.
