I think you misunderstood what i was asking. I am talking about a single installation of MySQL Server and Workbench (COMPUTER A)

I am in another part of the building on a laptop running Workbench (COMPUTER B) and am making a connection to (COMPUTER A) using Workbench.

But when Workbench on (COMPUTER B) loads doesn't it need to read the my.cnf/ini from(COMPUTER A) where MySQL is running so it knows to load the correct file?
