mysql plugin development

Hi,

I need to create own functions to mysql by using C. I have ANSI C written application and i need to create some specific conversation functions to database side for client and server application use. Why do not implement those on client side is that we have clients using different progamming languages. So implementing functions that can handle binary data chunks and convert it to another format should be done to db side.

Can you reply some quide where i can start from?
