Awful installer experience - what to do?

So, 8.0.11 breaks several Oracle software installs, such as Oracle Policy Automation. The JDBC driver is bad, the new encryption stuff is unsupported, etc, etc...

The problem is that I installed 5.7 on Windows server over a month ago and got everything working.

Then, I needed to install another MySQL server for another OPA deployment. The installer automatically installed 8.0.11 as I forgot about the issues. This occurred, even though the installer I ran was from the 5.7 msi!!! OUCH!

I uninstalled everything I could (I didn't want to uninstall the MySQL server), but I couldn't get any version of the installer to allow a 5.7 installs anymore. The installers insisted on 8.0.11... Worse, was trying to downgrade the JDBC stuff to get past some 'query_cache_size' errors.

Really? In the end, it was export everything. Clean the server, etc... Reinstall, import everything. Hours, upon hours of work.

If I run a 5.7 installer, then I expect a 5.7 install.

I can't tell you what a pain it was that you upgrade to 8.0.11 without warning and by default. Then, you guys don't make it easy to revert back on such things as the JDBC driver.
