Thanks for the suggestion. I tried removing MySQL Server 5.6 in MySQL Installer, updating MySQL Installer using the newest MSI, then attempting to add MySQL Server back, but it doesn't even show up as an option in the available applications list (only MySQL Notifier, MySQL For Excel, MySQL for Visual Studio, and MySQL Utilities). It seems that no matter what I do, after upgrading my test VM I either get that the architecture is unknown (after updating via the MSI), or a broken MySQL Installer which detects the incorrect version (after updating via the zip file).
