So, if your SQL code runs without error and creates the multi column index that can be used as the foreign key index, that confirms my idea is valid.
In which case, the reason I am not being allowed to do it has to be solely down to WorkBench which is preventing the user from creating a valid multi column index.
I can edit the SQL code WB generates when creating the table, but then there's a permanent discrepancy between the model and the server which will continue to be irritating.
I'll pose a question in the WB section to see if anyone can suggest a way around this WB limitation.
