MySQL Client: ERROR 2026 (HY000): SSL connection error: Client is not configured to use SSL

Hey,

I've used MySQL for a while, but I've been increasingly moving towards using SSL for MySQL connections.

While testing something using the linux mysql cli, I ran into this error:
"ERROR 2026 (HY000): SSL connection error: Client is not configured to use SSL"

I'm not getting a lot of details when I do google searches or forum searches for this particular error, so I'm trying to understand what the problem is. Am I missing some piece of configuration when I invoke MySQL? A configuration file? Does it has something to do with how MySQL was built from the package manager?

Just trying to understand what the problem is so I can go about fixing it.
