Innodb Archive mode

hello,

I do have a question about the backup of innodb logfiles.

In the documentation we can read this:

"innodb_log_archive
This value should currently be set to 0. Because recovery from a backup is done by MySQL using its own log files, there is currently no need to archive InnoDB log files. The default for this option is 0."

Can somebody explain me why we don't need the InnoDB log file in case of a recovery. If I want to make a point in time recovery I should be able to do it with the innodb log file and only if I archived them.

Cheers
Dominique
