How Mysql administrate memory? and what are the principal or master data bases?

Hello everybody, well I have a homework about the internal arquitectur of Mysql I know that Mysql has more than one type of engine, but my questions are speficly how mysql administrate memory, and the two master data base, I hear about mysql and information_schema, if you can bring me some information about it I'll thank you so much, or if you have a manual or something more specific than the oficial manual... It will help me a lot
