Performance Issue

I have created a table with some columns as BIGINT datatype to store the values which can be easily stored in INT data type also(values like 0, 34567,etc).

I have some doubts on using BIGINT data type.

1.Is there any performance issue with the BIGINT data type insted of using INT?
2.Whether it will affect the index performance?

if so please explain?
