MySQL slow, but not in development mode

Hiya, i'm having problems with a slow connection to the mysql database.
First i thought it must be the coding and such. But now i realise that
the speed is awesome in my testing and programming enviroment.
Ok. The computer is some year newer, but not much better in performance.

For instance, in my test enviroment, loading a memberlist takes 3 seconds.
In the end-user enviroment 10+ seconds.

Some parts takes up to 1 min! instead of 5 seconds or so.

Where should i look when troubleshooting?
- Hardware (1gb ram, p4, windows xp sound ok for me though)
- MySQL server settings, any tips what can be the problem?
(i tried to use same settings but no effect)
(uses MyIsam)
- Network
In the test enviroment, 3 different computers connect to the
SQL server + internet usage (new). But it still takes long on
the system where the server is installed on. Doesnt matter
if all the other computers are turned off.

Hhhheeeelp! My client is chasing me..
Its to slow! And damn why does it work here!
