LVM cow happens only when you enable snapshot mode, which wasn't. Besides, how do you turn off LVM? The only way would be to rebuild the server without it...
Also, the IOPS are the same on both servers, and iostat shows approx same amount of sectors/sec and bps utilized by the drives. The only difference is 6x more data in MB written by the cpanel server and consequently 6x more time taken.
I need to figure out somehow what does mysqld write to the discs. My guess would be repeated writing of same data for some reason, or some additional data stream.
