Hi Christian,

This looks like an optimizer bug to me. Please, file a bug, preferable with a reproducible test case, so we can look into this. If it is difficult to make a test case that can reproduce this, it would be very usefule for us to have the optimizer trace for the query. See http://dev.mysql.com/doc/internals/en/optimizer-tracing-typical-usage.html for how to generate this.

As a work-around you can try is to use FORCE INDEX. That is,
"... FROM GroupCall FORCE INDEX(CallInitiated,CallBegin) ... "
