Hello together

I'm using mySQL 4.1.7 on W2k and have this problem. A statement like

c = is an Integer
SELECT ...
ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE c = c + 1
works fine but ...

cStr = is a large Textfield
SELECT ...
ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE cStr = Str & 'new text...'
works not

I have tried many combinations like VALUES(cStr), but i mine it is not possible to extend a String... Has anyone an idea, how i can update a String without to send the hold data in the statement?

Regards Peter Witschi
