AFAIK innodb does not support external locking.
If it did it would be horribly slow too.
all metadata for shared storage systems either has to go over a network (ethernet) or to the disk. Both are slow and all nodes have to respond to actually get the lock. i.e. you would see nowhere near the performance of a single machine.
