unable to restore backups setup by MySQL Administrator

I'm using MySQL 4.1.13 and PHP 5.0.4 on a Windows 2000 Server with IIS.

I setup backups using MySQL Administrator and it nightly backs up to a file all the databases.

however I tried to restore today (for the 1st time) and got the error:

The MySQL Server returned this Error:
MySQL Error No 1064-You have an error in your SQL syntax

I'm using MySQL Administrator 1.014.

I even tried just restoring a single table in a schema and went as far as deleting that table from the database and still got the same error.

also tried restoring from another server's MySQL backup and it didn't work either.

Suggestions????
