Backup/Restore Selected Tables/Fields Only
I support a Python application (includes some C modules) that utilises a MySQL database. A number of clients are running this in a standalone environment but have agreed that we can use their data both for statistical analysis and to improve the product. However it is not as simple as doing a backup/restore as for confidentiality some fields and some tables should not be exported. These are attributes such as name, date of birth (will use age as relevant to analysis), address and a number of others. Whilst I have done backups/restore of whole databases or selected tables, using either MySQL Workbench or ‘mysqldump’, this one has me flummoxed. I suspect there will be other issues but I am keen to get this part under way. Thank you…
