Grant NO PRIVILEGES and SELECT allowed anyway

Hi everybody,
I have a user having the following grants:

GRANT USAGE ON *.* TO 'example'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD 'hjga'
GRANT SELECT ON `mydb`.* TO 'example'@'%'

Then when I log in I can view all databases, all tables and I can even select records from all databases, and not only from mydb.

What happens?

I'm running
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.51a, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2
