named pipe or tcp/ip?

against external intruders, is it more secure to use a named pipe than a tcp/ip port?

I'm working on an apache+mysql+php (on w2k+sp4) application which is not meant yet for going public into the web. But my development machine is always online via a dsl provider, I have a basic dsl modem without much firewall capabilities. I just want to know whether the election of a named pipe would add or not some safety to my very simple environment.

thanks,
Rodrigo
