ERROR 2005 (HY000): Unknown MySQL server host 'mysql' (1)

hi everyone,
i want to connect a remote database on LAN network. i tried like this

mysql> connect to mysql -h 192.168.1.4;
ERROR 2005 (HY000): Unknown MySQL server host 'mysql' (1)

i got this error. how can solve this problem. is there any other process to do this one
