Normaly the ip of the pc can be an dynamic ipadress given by the dhcp-server of the router.
The router has a fix ip such as 192.168.0.2. If you want to ping your pc you either have to know the actual ipadress or the hostname of your pc, based in the dns or the similar file such as /etc/hosts.

Another question. How do you made the connection between access and mysql exactly. The mysqlhost is an unixhost ??

Regards,
Ruprecht
