Client does not support authentication protocol

Hello.
I've just installed MySQL 4.1.5 Gamma for Windows.
I want to create an ODBC connection so I've also download myODBC 3.51.
When I'm testing the connection I get an error:

"Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client".

I've checked the manual and it says that I must "upgrade all client programs to use a 4.1.1 or newer client library", but I dont understand what this means because I think I have the latest library. What should I do??

Thanks in advance.
Jonathan
