It is hard to say what exactly happened because the description does not have all details required to repeat the problem.

It is possible you encountered a bug in MySQL ODBC driver.
Please report it here:
https://bugs.mysql.com/report.php

You can attach relevant information, stack traces, test code etc. to the bug report in order to help diagnose and fix it sooner.
