how to backup a database?

Hi folks,
just a quick q
Does the connector provide any functionality for backing up databases (e.g. mysqldump) and if so do you know how I would go about performing a backup to a textfile using vb .net?
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and NET/Connector 1.05 - thanks for any help :)
