JDBC upgrade

Hi all, I would like to know more about JDBC. Hope all of u can help.

Currently i have JDBC2.0-stdext.jar and mysql-j-connector.jar in my resin. I using JSP to develop my web page.

what is the diffferent between mysql-j-connector.jar & JDBC2.0-stdext.jar ?

If i want to upgrade my driver, what should i do? will it get ant affect to my server or web page?
