Just to set expectations, I have no specific reason to believe that the most recent driver will solve your problem (although it might) - the objective is to rule out any already-fixed bugs, but also get increased diagnostic information present in more recent versions to help if further investigation is warranted.
You'll definitely want to continue using a connection pool in a high-concurrency environment. DBCP is a good option.
