Hi Todd,

As I mentioned I'm a total newbie to MySQL, this is the first one I've ever had to deal with. I'm a SQL Server DBA, have been for many years, prior to that Sybase.

Anyway I had nothing to do with the installation or configuration of MySQL, it was done by the Linux Admin, and the system has to be PCI compliant.

The Linux Admin has a sanity check program that runs regularly throughout the day and one of the things that it does is to check the ports on the server on which MySQL resides. Could this possibly be the cause of the max_connect_errors maxing out?

I'm a little reticent to turn the general query log on as this is a production machine.

Thanks,

Michael MacGreogr
