The appropriate driver option for verification is verifyServerCertificate=true|false.
This option will be false if the service has no SSL defined. If you are using SSL however, it will default to true. This means if you want to connect via SSL, but without the host/CA verification, then you need to disable it in the driver options with:
verifyServerCertificate=false
