The way I did it was when looping through the result set, store the data in a variable the do a "Select CONCAT("<xml tag>",var,"</xml tag>")" and store that result into a variable and keep contatenating that one like "Select CONCAT(prev_conc, cur_conc)" and return that result.

Very very dirty way of doing it, and it was at this point that i said screw it and did it in php. :)
