Text Instead of HTML

Ok, I havean older Mysql/PHP, that when we created a new customer in the DB it sent out an email(Linux RedHat 9.0) with the HTML page. well we now have a new SBS exchange mail server and the email show up as plain text, showing the HTML code. I have been told that its not sending the correct MIME configuration. So I have been looking for the right configuration code and have not been able to find. I would like to have the HTML mail come out as HTML and Not text. Yes I have the exchange server configured to display text and HTML.
