Error when using Net::MySQL

Hello,
I'm getting the following error when using Net::MySQL module:
"Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client"

I'm running Solaris 9, with mysql 4.1. In the connection string I have a 'hostname', 'port', 'database', 'user', and 'password' defined. I am also running this from the same machine as the mysql instance.

Any thoughts?
