I am using 4.1.11. So subqueries are fine. Also I need to achieve the result set in 1 query run via JDBC, as it does in SQL server.
If MySQL really wants SQL Server refugees there is a need for a systematic coverage of the alternate ways of doing all the SQL Server specific SQL extns like derived tables etc. But I have not found such a resource. Lack of this resource really makes migration difficult, everything else has been straightforward.
