Text field migration

I ran migration wizard to convert the tables from MS SQL. I have few fields

NVARCHAR(260)
NVARCHAR(512)

The wizard converted them to MEDIUMTEXT type. Is there any advantage in converting them MEDIUMTEXT instead of

VARCHAR(260)
VARCHAR(512)
