Tool for Oracle to MySQL conversion…

Hi Guys,

ModelRight 2 is a very powerful data modeling tool that supports MySQL and Oracle. You can use it to transform an Oracle database into a MySQL database and vice-versa. It will not help you to move the instance data between the two databases but it will help you to recreate the same database structure from Oracle to MySQL.

To do so, all you need to do is the following: reverse engineer your Oracle database into ModelRight; change the database type from Oracle to MySQL; automatically all your datatypes, tables, columns, indexes, constrains, etc will be transformed so they generate as MySQL DDL; then forward engineer your new model into your MySQL database. That’s all. Your database is recreated in MySQL. Depending on your database size, it may take only a few minutes.

The process can be obviously applied the other way around too: to move from MySQL to Oracle.

Check it out at www.modelright.com. A community version is available for Free for MySQL databases.

Hope this helps.
