Migration from Oracle 8.1.6

I want to migrate an Oracle 8.1.6 database to mysql. I have installed Migration toolkit v.1.0.21rc and have succesfully migrated a small 4 table oracle database to mysql.
The production database has over 200 tables. It appears as the re-engineering completes successfully (step1) but the Object Type Selection screen, object mapping and detailed object mapping screens are blank. The Migration step fails with a java.NullPointerException.
Can the Toolkit migrate an Oracle 8 database? Is the number of tables an issue? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
