Yes, MySQL replication is very simple, and it's asynchronous, and it has this limit that a slave can only have one master.

But replication isn't the only solution out there. If you would actually have used MobiLink with iAnywhere, then you could probably do something similar with a sychronization server for MySQL -- for instance SJA, the SQLYog Job Agent from www.webyog.com, or Funambol's SyncML server.

MySQL 5 also the Federated storage engine, so you can run queries on one server for data that actually resides on another.
