Importing Excel database into phpmyadmin - CSV compatibility

I am having big problems importing multiple records from excel 2007 to a phpmyadmin database.

When exporting the phpmyadmin database as a csv file the data is displayed as below:

"id;""vid"";""aid"";""style1"";""hid"";
"1;""7556805a0"";""24"";""Priory"";""South East"
"2;""5b9a1335b"";""31"";""Heritage Building"";""South West"
"3;""ae9525285"";""39"";""Character Building"";""North West"

I can modify how the fields are terminated/enclosed etc in the phpmyadmin database but cant apply the same steps to change how the csv file is displayed via excel. The excel csv file displays in the following format:

id,vid,aid,style1,hid,
1,7556805a0,24,Abbey / Priory,South East,
2,5b9a1335b,31,Heritage Building,South West,
3,d6c0b34e7,4,Heritage Building,South East,

Any advice/guidance on this issue is now greatly appreciated. Ive wasted 2 or 3 days on this! Thanks in advance
