I had a similar problem with other application.
The solution was making the directory name shorter, like c:\mysql, and installing it from that directory.

Later I found out I had to change a registry key (which I have it saved on my palm form emergencies.... )

Here it is (set it to 1 if its empty or 0):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\
CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\
NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation=1
