Index with same columns as table

I've got a table with an index that contains all columns of this table. The table is always accessed via the index. So the same data is basically stored twice - in the index and in the actual table.

This was never a big issue when InnoDB/MyIsam was used since disk space is cheap. But with the memory engine, this becomes an issue (the table is about 2.5 GB).

Is there an option to sort the table automatically so that the index is not necessary?
