Was it an upgrade or a fresh install of 5.0.11? I had a similar issue on a WIN XP laptop with 5.0.10. I also found unprintable characters in the ROUTINES data dictionary view after my upgrade. I truncated the mysql.procs and mysql.procs_priv tables and everything was fine. Something happened on my upgrade, but still am not sure what...
