4.1 (pre 5.0.x) stored procedure options

I have a tomcat / struts java web application using hibernate and I need to do some simple summary calculations in my database. It would be ideal to have stored procedures which are called perhaps by triggers to calculate some rating information.
What are my options if I'm running 4.1 and not 5.0? I'm looking to when I actually have my app hosted (hopefully in the next 30 days). I'm not sure many hosting companies will run a non-release version of mysql. I also don't think I want to host my own box which would cost more.
