In or out of sprocs, every query, every fetch needs error handling. In sprocs, Declare...Handler and/or Signal. A glaring omission is a continue handler wherever no-rows-found is logically possible ...

DECLARE CONTINUE HANDLER FOR NOT FOUND SET done = 1;
