I think the issue with the 5.0.10 upgrade is that prior to this release triggers were attached to a particular table. As of 5.0.10 they are now attached to the database.

Therefore dropping the table won't make much of a difference.

I imagine dropping the DB is out of the question. :) But that may be your only option.
