Thanks for your reply. I understand triggers can't return a result set. The question is how can I stop the procedure called by the trigger from returning a result set. As for the procedure itself I am not trying to return a result set from that either. MySQL by default is returning the result set. Other databases I've worked with have options to suppress this output, i.e., NOCOUNT in SQL. Is there a means to do so in MySQL?
