Thanks for writing in our forums.
Is the MySQL Server you are trying to stop a Windows Service?
Is it running in the local box where the MySQL Notifier is or in a remote computer?
You mention you can see the server in MySQL Workbench but can't stop it. Does this mean you tried to stop it from MySQL Workbench and you could not?
You are posting the stack trace thrown by the exception, but in order to understand the error, you need to describe what exactly triggered, and I mean the exact steps you followed to get this error. Do you get it consistently?
