OK, thanks for sticking with me.
Please try the following and post the results:
1. Open a command window and enter the command "notepad" (without the quotes).
2. Change to the System32 folder (i.e., CD \Windows\System32) and enter the ping command from there.
3. Enter the command "Path"
Post your results.
I am trying to determine if you are actually missing the ping.exe executable or the path to that executable.
