OK, beginning at the beginning, do you know ...
1 your mysql username & password
2 how to start and stop the MySQL server
3 how to edit the configuration file my.cnf
4 how use the mysql client
If 1-3 are yes but 4 is no, run the ubuntu terminal program, and in the shell execute ...
mysql -uUSR -pPWD
where USR and PWD are your mysql username & password.
So assuming 4 is yes, in the client run these 2 cmds ...
select version();
show schemas;
... and copy/paste the results here into a post here.
