change datadir

Hi, I tried to change the datadir in mysql configuration but mysql does not start after the change. New path is in a different disk mounted on /Data
here are the steps I did:
1. stop mysql.service
2. change datadir in /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf
3. changed permission and ownership to mysql for the new path

other info:
OS: ubuntu 20.04
mysql version: 8.0.2

Plz help.
