I was told that "MySQL screws up non-BMP Unicode sequences so store text in binary collation or blobs to achieve strict multilanguageness."

As well I was told that newer MySQL has http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/charset-unicode-utf8mb4.html. Which hosting will have it?

What will be the difference between these two? Which database be quicker?
