Hi,
What you could use is an ETL tool to migrate to the new MySQL version. Check free tools such as Talend's open source tool Talend Open Studio (the editor's site is here:
http://www.talend.com/ ). This ETL tool can migrate you to the new MySQL version. Then you can use the software for lots of other uses such as data integration and data quality.
